    What the gateway covers

    Gaming-underwritten acquiring

Visa and Mastercard acceptance through acquirers that already write gaming MCCs in your licensed markets — no aggregator surprise shutdowns.

    Open banking deposits

Account-to-account deposits that clear instantly, cost less than cards and cannot be charged back — the strongest deposit rail in regulated markets.

    Local method coverage

iDEAL, SPEI, Interac, Khipu and further market-specific APMs presented only where they convert, keeping the cashier short and familiar.

    Fast player payouts

Withdrawal rails configured per market so cashouts land in minutes rather than days, with automated limits and approval workflows.

    Routing and cascading

One integration across multiple providers, with retries and failover that protect deposit conversion when a single acquirer degrades.

    Risk, KYC and RG controls

Player-level screening, velocity rules, age and identity verification hooks and responsible-gambling limits built into the deposit flow.

    Why gaming payments behave differently

Most gateways are built for one-way retail checkout: a card is charged, goods ship, the transaction ends. Gaming is bidirectional and continuous. The same player deposits repeatedly, withdraws unpredictably, and judges the operator on how quickly money moves in both directions. A gateway that only optimises the deposit leg loses players at the cashout.

Card decline rates in gaming are also structurally higher. Issuers apply gambling MCC rules, some block the category entirely, and 3-D Secure friction bites hardest on mobile. That is why account-to-account deposits through open banking outperform cards in mature markets — they clear instantly, carry no chargeback right, and remove the issuer from the decision.

Finally, gaming is licensed market by market. Payment infrastructure has to respect the same boundaries: methods, currencies and geo-rules configured per licence, not applied globally.

    Gaming payment gateway FAQ

What is a gaming payment gateway?

A gaming payment gateway is the payment layer a licensed online gaming operator uses to take deposits and issue withdrawals. It differs from a standard gateway in three ways: it is underwritten for gaming merchant category codes, it supports market-specific deposit methods rather than cards alone, and it carries payout rails and player-level risk controls suited to regulated gambling flows.

Which payment methods should an online gaming operator offer?

Cards remain the default in most markets, but deposit conversion is usually decided by local methods. Open banking and account-to-account transfers dominate in the UK, Netherlands and the Nordics; iDEAL in the Netherlands; SPEI in Mexico; Interac in Canada; Khipu in Chile. A gaming gateway should present the two or three methods a player expects in their own market and hide the rest.

How fast can withdrawals be paid out?

Payout speed depends on the rail rather than the gateway. Account-to-account and instant local schemes typically settle to the player within minutes to a few hours, card payouts within one to three business days, and digital-asset payouts near-instantly where the operator is approved for that flow. Withdrawal speed is one of the strongest retention levers in gaming.

Do I need a gambling licence to get approved?

Yes. Acquirers and payment institutions require a valid licence for each market you accept players from, together with geo-blocking of unlicensed territories, KYC and age verification, responsible-gambling controls and AML procedures. Licensing is checked before pricing is discussed.

Can gaming deposits settle in digital assets?

Approved operators can accept Visa, Mastercard and supported local payment methods while receiving settlement in digital assets through approved third-party on-ramp providers, subject to provider approval and compliance review in the relevant jurisdiction.
